My Trip to Pompeii--Ryan

 Here is a picture of the trams in Italy. This is some of the more beautiful graffiti but the town that we stayed in was covered in it.

 

 This is one of the oldest and most well preserved amphitheaters in the world.  This is in Pompeii.

 Here are nine people in the garden of the fugitives. When the hot ash covered the people it hardened over their bodies. When people started excavating Pompeii they would come across a hole in the ground and would just destroy it. When a professor found one, he filled it with plaster and dug it out. He then saw the shape of a human.

Me walking across the crosswalks. The city had no sewers even  though they had pipes to carry water in the buildings so all the waste would go into the street. The crosswalks are designed so the chariot wheels can still go between the stones.  They must have had good drivers.

In Herculaneum archaeologists found no holes in the ground.  They thought that the citizens here had all escaped but when they excavated the boathouses they found hundreds of skeletons.  Maybe they were trying to escape in the ocean.  The pyroclastic cloud that came through here probably burnt everyone and boiled anyone who swam in the ocean.  It even moved the coastline out 420 yards.
