Estavayer-le-Lac is in the french speaking part of Switzerland, so we were finally more comfortable with the signs and the language. We were immersed in a fog in the morning but it soon burned off.
We did this crazy, interesting water skiing with our ward. It is hard to explain but hopefully the pics will help. Erin was one of the first to try in our group. She tried slalom but it's a different concept so she eventually went to the double skis and then had no problem.
Renate on the left is our RS president, Nadine in the middle is her son's girlfriend (who is on a mission, heading to Greece this week), and then me, just practicing our take offs.

Once the fog burned off we could see the mountains emerge on the other side of the lake.
This gives you a view back toward the take off and the viewing area (a bit more crowd than on a boat).
Further down the line you can see 2 other skiers, just past them the course turns left. You must ski between the two balls and get ready for the rope to tug you hard around the corner. The far corner has 3 turns and then you do a long straightaway back to our end. There are two more corners with the last one having the most whip. It's the best place to go down since you are close to the dock. There is a boat to rescue the skiers who go down on the far side of the course. Once one person goes down it sort of has a domino affect to avoid skiing over someone.
It was very different but fun. Our ward had it for 3 hours then we saw a few others on wake boards who had apparently done it before and were doing flips on the last turn--rather amazing to watch.
We then enjoyed a picnic and the kids swam in the lake. It was a beautiful day but probably one of our last of the nice weather. At least that's what they keep saying but so far we keep getting another last day :)
