We started the day with fresh cinnamon rolls from Erin.
Yum!!
Dan babysat two adorable Brazilian/Uruguyan kids (age 2 and 6 months) soliciting entertainment from our boys which worked out fabulous while Erin, Ursula and I went to the Qin exhibit (Terracotta Warriors from China). The exhibit opened in April and leaves in November but Erin really wanted to see it before she left so with one week left we finally made it! It was fabulous--Amazing, Heart-Wrenching, Interesting!

The terracotta warriors were discovered by a local farmer in China in 1974. They date from the late 3rd century BC. Many 1000s have been excavated but it is estimated there are 8000 warriors, 130 chariots, 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses. There are 8 warriors that travel with the exhibit. Every warrior has a different face. It's hard to fathom the amount of work required to produce this buried army. They were all painted with elaborate colors. The one we are standing with is only a replica (no cameras allowed in the exhibit). It's interesting to me that they made the warriors larger than life size. But I guess if you are going to have a terracotta army, they might as well be BIG!
We returned home to find the boys all playing well together then we headed to Gerzensee (30 minutes away) for Erin's last Panband event--playing for the appetizers for a wedding.

It took awhile for the guests to loosen up, but finally the groom started a snake to dance along with the music.
Then a beautiful, relaxing drive back to Bern to enjoy the rest of the evening with the family eating Kambly cookies from a Qin tin (thanks Ursula!!)
