After packing 7 of us in our Mazda 5 we stopped for one night in Venice.
We loved all the alleys and waterways.
Then off to Croatia. We finally found our house in Hlapa on the island of Krk. And, of course, I fell in love with our chimneys :)
And the kids, with the pool!
Sunday we found a branch in Rijeka. Erik and Erin found a common friend with one of the sister missionaries--small world.
Monday we discovered our first beach past Stara Baska.
Lots of rocks, sea cucumbers, anemones and urchins.
Then a walk through the old town of Krk, with a quick lie-down on the old rock wall.
Preparing for our boat tour the next morning, the kids sporting their new sunglasses outside the walls of old Krk.
Discovering the island from our boat, Kapetan Nemo.
Jumping from the boat.
On Golden Beach with round, gold rocks.
Kent heading into the caves.
Ryan searching for dolphins but actually entertaining the other boat guests as his head bobbed up and down.
Silo Beach on Thursday
Finding our own personal cove.
Erik's dive.
Self timer family pics
Friday's morning experience, Soline's mud baths.
The new, healthy look.
Like mother, like daughter.
Ryan and Nate fishing--not ready for the mud slinging.
Trying for a Y tan.
Hugs, anyone?
Our last day we ate lunch at Zara's in Dobrinj (our favorite morning, run-to village) but my camera ran out of batteries. Then a beautiful beach cove in Malinska. Then a return to our very own pool.
Saturday was an early return to Switzerland with only a one hour wait at the Gotthard tunnel which was soon forgotten as we made the climb through the gorgeous Susten Pass over 2264 m. A wonderful farewell to a beautiful country!
