Ryan prepares school for Nathan on Saturday (two days out of school and what are they thinking of?) but Kent is the one most fascinated :) He's playing with oobleck on the left and then observing what happens when he puts blobs of it in the "lava lamp" in the middle.
For their field trip, Ryan and Nathan, chaperoned by mom and dad went to the Einstein Museum (Erin and Kent went the day before).
This mirror hall was really amazing but hard to capture on film (ok, I didn't really have film). It reminded me of an M.C.Escher picture with stairways going in all different directions.
After the Einstein Museum we went to the Natural History (both in our neighborhood). This exhibit of African animals had these little men in several of the dioramas. Not sure about the story behind it, but we sure made up of lots of stories. It was almost better than a zoo--more animals, no smell and less room needed.
After learning about life and death, the kids found a room to create wall images
then slid down the ramp like penguins.
Nathan lost an arm to the bear but didn't seem too concerned.
There was an amazing rock/crystal collection in the basement which was beautifully displayed. Still lots to see but we ran out of time. The pupil/teacher had to get back to their science curriculum and Chinese math.
