It was quite complicated how it all came together in McGaheysville, Virginia with some kids driving, some flying, some early, some late. But all who came made it :) while Nate waits patiently for the fun and fire to begin.

Sunday morning we headed out for a family walk in search of an old homestead farm. Due to high grass and lots of ticks we approached from a different direction.
We didn't find the homestead so searched for crawdads while debating our options. Returned home and headed to church.
We said goodbye to Pat and Lisa and family Sunday night then goodbye to Ken and Jane and family Monday morning. After which Grandma led a smaller group out in search of the elusive cabin. We had a difficult time keeping up with grandma ...
but after trekking through all the forest...
she found it!! Success!
Thanks to grandma's perseverance, we found it!!!
Then a quick trail run led us to this amazing fungus.
Later Nate and Lily entertained and created villages while grandma sewed Lukas' baby blessing outfit.

Nate stayed with Lily at Grandma and Grandpa's. We said our goodbyes, then Dan, Ryan, Elle and I drove into DC to drop off Erin and Derek at National airport and then drove into the sunset--820 miles to Peoria, Illinois
The next morning we drove down to Carthage and toured the jail where Joseph and Hyrum Smith were matyred.

Then onto Nauvoo, Illinois.
Ryan has decided that being an only child requires receiving toooo much attention.
So he heads off for a run across Nebraska for a quick break.
We left Nauvoo at 1:00 pm then drove until arriving home at 7:30 am. Of course we took bathroom breaks and running breaks!
