To celebrate our 24th Dan and I went to Murren, Switzerland for 3 days.
This is the view from the cable car from Lauterbrunnen up to Murren.
The view from our cabin porch. The Eiger is the white cap on the far left, then Moench, then Jungfrau on the far right.
My favorite cows coming through town, right by our cabin on the left where the flowers are :)
Definitely an anniversary celebration with cows!
A quick hike up and around Allmendhubel Thursday evening.
We found a short zip line swing and played like kids. Until I realized I tore my pants :)
We finished our hike but had to say goodbye to the pants :(
We are looking over the valley to the Eiger (left), Monch and Jungfrau (right), our shadows on the bottom.
Friday we planned to hike up to the Schilthorn. We started with green grass and wildflowers.
More grass and smaller wildflowers.
Then snow, snow, snow.
A view from our lunch break but from here we had to head down (between Birg and Schilthorn)
Standing on the edge of the world.
My favorite wild flowers--Enzian. Purple or blue?
A view of the mountain face we just came down.
Aurikel and a butterfly.
Alpine ibex running around the mountains with us.
Leftover, dirty snow with mounds of dirt that were supported by icy pedestals (looked like a Dr. Suess creation :)
Heading back home for the day.
Afternoon break at our cabin in Murren.
Hiking out on Saturday, following the yellow Wanderweg signs you can see on the post on the right.
Creek coming down from Buttelassen. Water was cold and refreshing!
Lots of waterfalls
and wildflowers (maybe I'm really starting to like purple in my old age :)
Another waterfall along the valley floor. We stopped at Trummelbachfalls, took lots of pictures but they just don't do justice to the place--you'll have to come and see for yourself :)
