Erin's smiley faces inside the Coliseum (she promised Grandma she'd wear them through Rome).
Christmas Eve morning at the Coliseum, then through Augusta's House and the Roman Forum, downtown Rome with plazas and fountains galore, including a Christmas market, carousel and "chestnuts roasting on an open fire." Then to the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. After surviving the catacombs, the sun set while we fed the pigeons on St. Peter's Square. We enjoyed the Christmas lights (sure miss them in Morocco) on our walk back with quick visits to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain (have to throw a coin in to ensure our return to Rome), and the grocery store. We even still had time for the traditional Nativity reading/acting with caroling. 
Christmas Day we visited several churches then took a stroll in Pincio Park. When we tired of strolling we found a bike to pedal/push/pull. We also visited Piazza del Popolo and took pictures on the lions and sphinxs then off to the Spanish Steps which were actually built by the French. The church bells were joyous all day, always beckoning to new churches to see.
