Nathan's 12th birthday has been weeks of celebration! We started with a birthday dinner on Sunday, May 24th to celebrate Erik's and his birthday with all the family.
Nathan made the red velvet Captain America shield cake.
But then he needed his own cake on the 26th, with plenty of whipped cream!
We have been looking for a dog for a few weeks. On our way to our Aunt and Uncle's mission farewell Sunday the 31st, we were notified of puppies available in Grantsville (nearby). We made arrangements to visit that evening not really considering we would come home with Elle that night!
She stayed with friends from Nathan's soccer team because we already had plans to celebrate Nathan's 12th in Moab while Kent and Ryan enjoyed a week of EFY in Provo.
Our fist stop was just off the highway near Green River, Utah.
Nathan's first triumphal climb.
Then on to Moab to ride the Gemini Bridge Trail.
Dinner our first night at Sunset Grill overlooking Moab. Dan just had to try on the boots. Then our second swim of the day under the fire lit water fall arch.
Off to Hurrah Pass and Chicken's Corner the next day.
We found caves (thanks to Dan's persistence) and our own balancing rock.
Erin and Anna joined us for a night with a ride each day--Bull's Canyon to Gemini Bridges and Long Canyon the next.
I was impressed with the heartiness of nature!
Amazing what can grow in such hostile conditions.
Our return descent into Long Valley, under the rock tunnel
and overlooking the valley.
Dan, Nate and I made a quick trip into Arches that afternoon to enjoy some hiking and sightseeing.

On our way home Thursday we met Erik in Diamond Fork Canyon.
To finish off his week, Nathan went with Erik to spend
2 days with his married siblings--more adventures to come!
