Kent's Birthday on my Mom's farm

 To celebrate Kent's 17th birthday we met Grandpa on Grandma's farm in Pocatello Valley where she grew up.  

We met with Scott who runs the farm and who sent us 2 large boxes of wheat to Switzerland.  Turns out his family came from Oeschinberg, Switzerland in 1904.  It was his way of returning something to his native homeland.

There are few buildings remaining on my mom's "growing up" site but the windmill which was their power source for their well water, is still there. 

The house has been relocated but the front gate is still there!

We then drove by Thiokol where my dad worked for 9 months during his university days.  This is the Minuteman missile he worked on.

 We then drove to Golden Spike National Historic Site where the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads linked tracks to span the continent.  The Golden Spike is long gone but there is a golden tie to mark the spot.

We picked up my dad's car at my Aunt Afton's house and realized that she and Kent are twins--sharing their October 17th birthdays!

We met Dan after work to celebrate Kent's birthday: my 5 guys at 5 Guys.
