The Glads' Spring Break

Our friends from Morocco, who now live in SLC, visited Oregon for their Spring Break--much to our delight. We toured lots of country side and coast but also made great memories at home. We started our second day with a trip to Silver Falls (trail of 10 falls).
Neil and Mary crossing the bridge to head to the North Falls.
Amina and Mary heading down the stairs to walk under the North Falls.
Here's Amina--bright and cheery. How refreshing a walk in the park is!
Neil and Josh did the entire 4 mile trail. We hiked the first 1.2 miles then returned to the car to meet them at the other end. While we waited at the South Falls we sat down to picnic and enjoy our long forgotten sun (maybe not so forgotten for them coming from Utah but it was forgotten for us Oregonians:)
Wednesday we took all the kids with us to Astoria and then drove down the coast. Above is Astoria Column with history of the area spiraling up the column. We bought little balsa wood planes that the kids could fly off the top.
We bought them for the kids but Neil enjoyed it as much as they did. Dan had to work but he is pictured here with Erik as they talk on the phone. (Kent, Erik, Anna, Neil, Josh, Erin)
Below is the actual view behind the kids:
At the base of the column the kids rushed around finding other planes to fly. A few times they rushed back up the column to fly them again.
We stopped along the coast for some lunch and kite flying. Windy but sunny.
Anna and Erin enjoying the breeze at Cannon Beach.
Ryan and Nate are tracing Josh in the sand. They are wearing their heavy coats but two are without shoes. Give them a stick, some sand and a little bit of water and they are in heaven:)
Amina loved watching the man feed the birds from his hand. She attempted it herself later.
We finished our coast tour with a stop at Tillamook Cheese factory. After the tour, we tried several cheese samples but then had to try all the ice creams, too!
