As Peace Withholds
The wind let the boat drift as a block of wood,
The sun warmed the sailors as a black rock under the heat of the sun,
The waves pushed the vessels as a parent with their youngling,
The day was calm,
The day left for a while,
The night came to visit,
Torches lit the night,
Breezes cooled the light
Ships came to join the party,
Flags swayed through constant breezes,
The young peace was dragged away by the shout of sergeants,
The deep shadow of night chased away by light,
Light fought the night as it grew from many torches,
Many torches held by numerous boats,
Now the calm sea was tossed by large BATTLE ships,
Large spherical bombs added to the chaos,
Two different flags showed off their proud colors into the wind,
Angry screams of injured soldiers raged through night,
Night went away,
Day came to stay,
But the calmness of yesterday had long since died,
The ground littered but the rage did not subside,
Vessels came,
Cannonballs flew,
Yet even amidst this horrid tragedy,
The war of life,
A young boy played an innocent game,
He and his dog were the last remnants of peace.
